We want our kids to be grateful for all that we do for them and all of life’s blessings, but gratitude is a funny thing.  We can teach our children to say thank you by prompting when they are young and expecting it when they’re older.  But how can we teach our children the meaning behind the words?

It turns out that this is definitely one of those areas of parenting where what we do is far more influential than what we say.  Our children are watching and filtering their experiences through our parental lenses. Teaching an attitude of gratitude is a “hands on” sport!

Dr. Laura Markham of Aha! Parenting has some tips, and a few reminders to help your whole family discover or rediscover a gratitude attitude during the holidays and throughout the year.
