Weiss Pediatric Care is offering a full-time opportunity for a pediatric nurse with CNA, CMA, or LPN certification.

This position will be trained in all clinical aspects of the office. One year of clinical experience is preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Meet, greet and escort patients and parents to exam room
  • Collect and document patient’s current health status and medical history from parents/ patients
  • Accurately document patient’s measurements and vital signs as appropriate
  • Ensure that all forms and immunization records are entered into the electronic chart and available for provider
  • Accurately enter patient’s chief complaint, history of present illness, family and social history, safety and development into electronic health system.
  • Schedule medical testing and complete required paperwork and documentation.
  • Assist with and inform parents of any medical referrals and give parents contact information.
  • Clean exam rooms following patient visit.
  • Must follow universal precautions

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a neat, clean and safe environment for patients and staff according to policy and procedure
  • Ensure that supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are stored in an organized and efficient manner; stock and inventory medical supplies
  • Demonstrate correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment and medical supplies
  • Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining, returning, cleaning and disposing of medical equipment and supplies
  • Ensure economical utilization of medical supplies and ensure medical equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner
  • Assist office staff in the performance of their assignments
  • Participate in office sponsored training programs
  • Complete miscellaneous duties as requested

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school or program
  • Valid certificate (CNA, CMA, or LPN) and ability to work in the state of Florida
  • Accurately draw up and administer vaccines for infants – young adults
  • Obtain detailed patient history and document in the electronic medical record
  • Accurately draw up and administer vaccines for infants – young adults
  • Obtain and record vitals on each patient
  • Perform hearing and vision tests
  • Educate parents on a variety of topics including immunizations, asthma, feeding, and symptom management for common pediatric illnesses.
  • Review patient records for immunizations and well visit status, and specific health issues
  • Update patient immunization records in Florida Shots
  • Schedule specialists’ appointments and complete referrals
  • Order tests as instructed by providers
  • Follow-up on referrals, tests, and labs to ensure compliance.
  • Administer fluoride treatments
  • Provide nebulizer and other breathing treatments
  • Complete school and sports forms
  • Triage patients calls
  • CPR and any other certification as required by Weiss Pediatric Care
  • Ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner
  • Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner to meet current needs
  • Consistently demonstrate ability to take the initiative to make decisions without direct supervision
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures
  • Compliance with infection control policies and procedures and adherence to OSHA standards to ensure a safe working environment for self and others
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards

Special Position Requirements:

  • Position requires great attention to detail and the highest degree of confidentiality as well as the ability to effectively communicate with others
  • Ability to organize job functions and work areas to effectively complete assignments
  • Frequently required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or control; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Occasionally required to lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to speak and hear to communicate effectively
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
  • We require all staff to provide verification of appropriate immunizations as required for their position. These include Hep B, Tdap, MMR, COVID19, and annual influenza vaccines. Either proof of chicken pox disease (titers) or varicella vaccination is required.
