Change may be good, but it’s not always easy. Switching from the laid-back fun in the summer to earlier bedtimes, homework and new school schedules and routines can be a difficult transition for kids – and their parents.

Whether they are a first timer or an old hand, even the most eager of children may find it difficult to adjust to the new challenges, structure and pressures associated with school life.

With less than one month to go, we at Weiss Pediatric Care encourage parents to start preparing your child now for the adjustment – you can ease the transition by slowly switching to an earlier bedtime and allay any anxiety or tension they may be feeling with a calm, positive attitude.

Most children will thrive with your support and encouragement, but feel free to talk to us if you have any concerns. The National Association of School Psychologists has compiled many good tips to help parents get their children off to a good start — and keep them on track during the school year.
