A nationwide shortage of the FluMist, or nasal spray flu vaccine, is limiting the ways we can protect children from the flu this year. The manufacturer of FluMist has delivered only 30 percent of its orders to date, and estimates its supplies to be 60 percent, at best, by the end of the year.

The good news is that we have injectable flu vaccine available now.

We know the FluMist is very desirable for many people, especially young kids, because they don’t like needles. At the same time, it’s highly recommended that everyone get the injectable now to make sure they’re protected as the flu season moves toward its peak in December or January.

One of our families who recently came in for their flu vaccines reminded us why they were making sure that they were all protected as early as possible. “Last Christmas every one of our four kids spent the holiday under the covers, fighting flu symptoms, rather than enjoying family time.  This year, we’re doing everything we can to be sure we don’t have a repeat of the worst holiday ever!”

Don’t let the flu keep you or your children from the holidays, school or work.
