Today is an important day at Weiss Pediatric Care as we welcome a new member to our Pediatric Medical Home team.
Tara Cocco, ARNP, is Weiss Pediatric Care’s new family nurse practitioner – a registered nurse with 15 years of experience in critical care, obstetrics and pediatric nursing. After working as a bedside nurse for more than a decade, Tara completed her master’s degree and certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in December 2013. Previously, she worked as a critical care nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, and as a labor & delivery nurse at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
Working under the direction of Pediatrician Robert Weiss, MD, Tara will work with our care team to provide a full array of preventative, diagnostic and treatment services for sick and well children, as well as health education and support for our families.
Tara is passionate about preventive medicine and wellness – key components of the Pediatric Medical Home we are building. Among other special projects, she will also serve as the clinical specialist and coordinator of our practice’s Fit4AllKids program, a 6-week program that helps children and teens manage their weight and make healthy choices about food and exercise. Working 1-on-1 with families, she helps develop individualized and evidence-based strategies to help children achieve optimal health and wellness goals.
