Many thanks to this amazing group who participated in Weiss Pediatric Care’s first Family Advisory Council!

Parent and family input is critical to our goal of providing care that is truly family focused and patient-centered – a foundational principle of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Patient-Centered Medical Home model that guides our work.

Asking for and responding to family and patient input makes sense. While the Weiss Pediatric Care team meets regularly to focus on quality improvement goals, we rely on you, our parents and patients, to share your experiences and expertise with us so that our services are responsive to your needs.

At the inaugural Family Advisory Council meeting, the group made recommendations for practice improvements based on the results of the Medical Home Family Survey that was completed by a sampling of parents. The perspective of this group, and future Family Advisory groups, along with all those satisfaction surveys we ask to complete, will continue to inform what we do and how we do it at Weiss Pediatric Care.

According to Thomas McInerney, MD, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, “The practice of medicine is changing dramatically for the better as physicians increasingly adopt family-centered care; numerous studies have shown that this process leads to greatly improved outcomes of care for the patient.”

Would you like to be a part of shaping Weiss Pediatric Care’s future, while helping us improve outcomes of care for all children in our practice? Consider joining our next Family Advisory Group meeting on Tuesday, February 3rd from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.  Call Kerri, our Front Desk Specialist and Family Advisory Group Coordinator, for details.
